You will arrive in Lusaka, Zambia's capital city and business center. Lusaka is one of Africa's most delightful cities. It is a metropolitan area that offers visitors a traditional and hearty Zambian welcome. Our Greeters and company driver will meet you at the Lusaka (Kenneth Kaunda) International Airport. After that, you will be transferred to the Lusaka Central Business District (CBD) area. You will stay at the StayEasy hotel within the CBD area (sharing), in a quiet and central Lusaka city, a mere 4 minutes’ walk to the upmarket Levy Mwanawasa shopping mall. Check in and relax while waiting to be served with evening dinner. Notes: There are no planned activities on the day of arrival in Lusaka. So, you will check in at the hotel and relax or visit Lusaka city if you arrive early in the day. Activities start early tomorrow morning, the day of travel to Lower Zambezi Valley via Chirundu.

Travel from Lusaka to Chirundu at the lower Zambezi

After Breakfast, we will start our overland experience in Zambia, traveling from Lusaka to Chirundu comfortably on a paved road. Chirundu is an essential commercial artery route crossing the Zambian border to Harare, Zimbabwe. Usually, this road is well-kept as traffic connecting Harare to Lusaka is essential. At the very least, this road is always kept in good repair. About 50 km from Lusaka, you will reach the small roadside town of Kafue (its name is derived from the Kafue River, one of Zambia’s major rivers). This town has no significant or interesting things worth stopping for. Between Kafue and Chirundu, there are occasional craft stalls on the side of the road selling carved wooden animals, drums, and other memorabilia. If you wish to buy any of these items, you may do so on the return trip to Lusaka. As a tour operator who cares about its travelers, bottled water is always available in our overland truck. Lunch and refreshments are provided on board during the journey to Lower Zambezi. Approximately 200–300 meters from the Chirundu border, the unsigned road to the Lower Zambezi branches east from the main road. We will head to Mukuyu campsite in the game management area, covering a distance of 50 km, for a camping and nature excursion. Arrival Time: After checking in at Mukuyu campsite in a Game Management Area, you will have the opportunity to stretch your legs with a short walk. You will experience a special feeling of joy and freedom while walking in a natural setting, away from anything you are accustomed to. If you decide to go for a walk, you will be free to explore the nearby bunding green environment of Mukuyu campsite. Dinner and accommodation will be at camp.

Wildlife Viewing in Lower Zambezi

Wake up early enough to be ready on time for an exciting safari day, exploring the best wildlife viewing in Zambia. You will first receive a briefing from our tour leader on key facts, including personal safety, eco-tourism requirements, responsible environmental practices, and important country information and social etiquette. After breakfast, we will depart for a full-day game cruise in the Lower Zambezi National Park. Enjoy the morning and afternoon scheduled game activities, which will be explored by both canoe and boat, as well as game drive vehicles. Temperatures of up to 38°C (100°F) or higher are standard in the lower Zambezi Valley. Its prominent landscapes feature the African trees of massive Albida or winter-thorn trees (Faithherbia albida), which serve as forage for elephants and Giraffes and provide shade for most Fauna living in this area. The apple ring acacia keeps the elephant herds alive during the fierce October-November dry season. These beautiful trees create a picturesque natural palette, for which this park is famous. The Zambezi River basins provide the most crucial relief from the scorching valley heat for wild animals, allowing them to refresh their bodies and stay hydrated. This river cruise offers a natural setting as close as you wish. This is an exciting opportunity to view various wild animals, notably Hippos, buffalo, and Elephants, among many other species. We will make several stops along the river, allowing you to enjoy viewing animals both on land and in the water. Lunch and refreshments will be provided while on this exciting tour. Return to camp in the evening for dinner and accommodation.
