Agriculture and Farming in Morocco Tour

Your driver will take you on a day trip visiting historic sites and fascinating towns on the road to Fez. Our first stop will be at the Zniber Domaines, where we will visit the vineyards and Olive Groves. We will see His Bodega for wine production and olive oil Mills. Continue to Fez, dinner, and accommodation at your hotel.

Breakfast at Chami Pedagogic Farm. Your guide will take you to the ancient Medina of Fez on a historic walking tour. The most ancient of imperial capitals and the most complete medieval city of the Islamic world, Fez is undeniably unique. Culturally, spiritually stimulating with its haunting and beautiful sounds, infinite visual details, and unfiltered odors, Fez seems to exist suspended in time somewhere between the Middle Ages and modern times. Besides its electricity, it owes absolutely nothing to the West. As a spectacle, this is an entirely satisfying experience and a learning process about the sophistication of the Moroccan artisan. Visiting some of the important cultural and historic sites in the morning. Lunch will be in a typical Moroccan restaurant. The afternoon will be devoted to exploring a traditional dairy farm on the outskirts of Fez. Dinner and accommodation are at Hotel L’Escale.

The first hills you see of the Middle Atlas seem oddly un-Moroccan. Evergreen pines, tall cedar trees on the peaks, and poplars stand copiously on the foothills, laced with flowing streams. The road across is almost ceremonial. Azrou, the first real town of the Middle Atlas, stands at a major junction of routes, it's an important market center, and it has long held a strategic role in controlling the Berbers of the mountains. The Middle Atlas ceases at Midelt, where suddenly, through the haze, the much greater peaks of the High Atlas formidably rise behind the town to reach a massive range, the Dgebel Ayashi at over 12,000 ft. The drama of this sight, tremendous in the apparent, cool noon, is the most compelling reason to stop over for lunch. Erfoud is one of the most pleasing southern routes: a dry, red belt of desert, and then suddenly, a drop into the valley filled with date palm groves. Late afternoon, we will reach camp where camels are saddled so we can enjoy a sunset ride over the dunes of Erg Chebbi. Dinner accommodations are at camp with the Tuaregs over the dunes of Merzouga.

You will wake up early to reach the highest peak of the dunes and watch the sun rise over the spectacular Merzouga dunes. This is an experience that should not be missed.

Afterward, you will eat breakfast with the Tuaregs and continue onward. You will leave Erfoud traveling west toward the Valley of Todra, which lies right between the Atlas Mountains and the Sahara Desert. We will stop at the traditional Roses groves visiting the Rose water distillery and the natural cosmetic products cooperative owned by Native Berber women. You will reach Tinghir, the town where we will be spending the night. Only 15 kilometers from Tinghir inside the Valley of Todra, you will find the Todra's highest and narrowest gorges in the region.

Next, you will travel through the Dadès valley, wherein the spring, thousands of Persian roses bloom in hedgerows, filling the air with their heavenly perfume. You will also see the thousands of Kasbahs scattered along the Dadès River, majestic sandcastles with a visually appealing, timeless beauty.

You will continue to explore the Dadès Valley, traveling through El Kelaâ De Mgouna and Boumalne to view the inimitable natural vistas and unusual rock formations. You will then continue onward to Ouarzazate, which is one large oasis that intercepts the flow of water between the Dadès, the Drâa valleys.

You will spend most of your day en route to Marrakesh, exploring the legendary Kasbah of Aït-Benhaddou, a renowned architectural marvel classified as UNESCO world heritage.

Your journey will lead you to the highest pass in Morocco, the Taddart, and Tizi-n-Tishka pass, at an altitude of 11,000 feet. This pass divides the mountains into two distinct facets: the harsh, stark side acting as a shield that protects the hinterland from the harsh, dry expansion of the Sahara, and a lush side, soft and evergreen, which collects the moisture from the Gherbi winds of the Atlantic Ocean.

You will arrive in Marrakech, a city of pleasure for both visitors and locals, where southern tribesmen and Berber villagers bring their goods to market and find a variety of entertainment. To tourists, the city is a feast for the imagination, full of incomparable beauty, situated before the towering mountains that provide a thrilling backdrop. After a visit to the bustling Jemaa El Fna square, you will conclude your day with dinner and other accommodations at your hotel.

You will devote your morning to exploring Marrakech’s many historical sites, starting at the Menara, a magnificent pool surrounded by flowerbeds that reflects the image of an exquisite Moorish edifice. It was constructed in 1866 for dignitaries who enjoyed glorious sunsets with the ethereal Atlas Mountains as a backdrop. The pool also functions as an innovative irrigation system that serves dry land in the desert. We will visit the Museum of Water and a Packaging plant for exportation.

We will visit the Ministry of Agriculture regional fruit trees nursery to study different plants destined for other regions of Morocco. Dinner and accommodation will be at your hotel.

In the morning, your driver will meet you at your hotel to assist you with your luggage and transport you to the Mohamed V Airport. We will help you with your check-in and bid you farewell.
