The Atlas Mountains Odyssey Tour

Upon your arrival at Agadir Massira Airport, you will find your guide host waiting for you to greet you and then transfer you to your hotel. The remainder of the morning will be spent relaxing and acclimating. Lunch will be served at the open-air harbor restaurants for a seafood feast. Agadir is known to be a fishing hub in southern Morocco. Initially, your lunch will be followed by a guided city tour of notable places: the Museum of Berber Arts, The Valley of the Birds (exotic birds in their natural habitats), and the panoramic view of Agadir from the Kasbah. Agadir is an excellent place to begin any vacation. Its beautiful beaches are lined with Spanish Costa-style high-rise buildings. The city is a gentle blend of parks, hotels, gardens, and residential neighborhoods. Generally considered a quiet little town, this is the perfect place to prepare for what awaits.

Travel from Agadir to Massa-Tassila ( 1h30mn drive) Flat Terrain On trekking to Massa Valley with your local guide, we will tour typical Berber villages, such as Integrate, Tassila, and Sidi Rabat. Enjoy lunch in a fisherman's restaurant overlooking the Atlantic Ocean (typical Berber tagine catch of the day). Later, hike along the Massa River from Sidi R'bat to Tassila through the remarkable conservatory to discover the many indigenous and migratory species of birds living in this heavenly sanctuary of Massa Lagoon. The night will reserve the delights of a traditional Berber dinner under the stars of North Africa in the legendary Tassila village.

Trek from Tassila to Algeria natural beach (2h drive) Flat Terrain Depart in the morning to Sidi Ifni via the beautiful village and natural beach of Mirhleft to discover one of the most picturesque Atlantic sand stretches. Your next stop will be in the ancient city of Sidi Ifni, a surviving remnant of the Spanish colonial days. Its elaborate ironwork and sweeping architecture make it the most romantic Art Deco town ever built. Patches of gardens spread throughout this town provide a refreshing sense of renewal for this colony of the past. Walk the streets of Sidi Ifni with your guide to explore its marvels. Later, cruise to the wild beach of Algzira. Overnight and dinner will be in Algzira, a fisherman troglodyte (seasonal hide-away). This will allow you to experience traditional native habitats in complete isolation, a natural setting hard to find nowadays anywhere else. Camp will be set for you, and a fisherman will cook your dinner.

Camping in Algzira (No driving) Take a day excursion to the long, stretched white beaches and surrounding villages, exploring the daily life of Berber traditional fishermen and peasants in this valley. In the evening, a local troglodyte fisherman will prepare a Campfire feast on the white sands of Algzira for you.

Travel from Algzira to Tiznit (2h drive). Flat terrain Travel in the morning to Tiznit, where tribespeople of the surrounding region come to trade and find entertainment. Your guide will take you on a historic tour of the city. Tiznit's military history is apparent: this walled city comprised of neatly organized small streets and a considerable garrison offers an aura of order and security. The city tour of Tiznit will feature the Meshouar, the city square; Lalla Tiznit, a natural spring named after the founder of the city; then the Kasbah and the Kissaria, an exclusive souk for some of the most interesting Berber jewelry in all of Morocco. Here, silversmiths have rivaled all the fashions of Morocco at all times. Dinner and accommodation are in the exotic Tiznit Hotel.

Trekking day to Tafraout (3 hours drive) Mountain walking Enjoy a magnificent trekking day through the breathtaking scenery of the Atlas Mountains' diverse rock formations where nature can express its beauty, and men state their appreciation for coexisting in these cliff-hanging villages and wards that blend perfectly with the makeup of this esthetic environment. A picnic lunch will be prepared for you on the road. Tafraout is situated on the edge of a rambling palmary, an ethereal oasis in startling contrast to the otherwise barren landscape of this region. An afternoon guided visit will take you through this small village and nearby Neolithic rock carving sites. Dinner and overnight are at the relaxed pace of this unique village, nestled in the peaks of the Atlas Mountains.

Day trip from Tafraout to Taroudant (3 hours drive) Travel from Tafraout early in the morning along the scenic road to Taroudant, the bride of the South, as Moroccans call it. A trip across the Atlas Mountains, evergreen Aragan forests, where goats can be seen climbing trees, and they love to feed on these berries. It is a spectacular natural setting that is so unusual and incredible. Get your cameras ready; there is no place on earth where you can see climbing goats. We will stop for lunch in the typical Berber village of Ait Baha. It is the largest village in the area, which overlooks a spectacular valley with a curious rock formation. We will trek and explore the region as it changes from one horizon to another. Dinner and entertainment are in the Moorish atmosphere at the Salaam Hotel.

Your guide will take you on a historic city tour. Explore the city surrounded by regal, red-ochre walls, often called "Little Marrakesh." Tour the historic highlights of this old medieval Imperial city, walk and browse through the colorful souks replete with the best of what the skillful Moroccan artisan can offer, and finish your exciting day with a typical tea ceremony in the gardens of the legendary Salaam Hotel.

Hiking the Pass of Tizi-n-Test to Ouirgane (4 hours drive) Mountain Walks Climb today up in the mountains, hiking in the Atlas Mountains and Tizi-n-Test Pass. Most picturesque in Morocco is at your disposal. On a rocky spur in the heart of the High Atlas Gorges, the Tin-Mal stands just before you reach one of these ranges' highest and most dramatic passes. Here, history has recorded the origins of the Almohades dynasty, which has shaped the history of Morocco, and unified all tribes of this country from south to North under the banner of Islam. Enjoy lunch in this isolated village revered as one of the most important of Morocco's historic sites. Visit the Mosque, which is considered one of Morocco's oldest mosques. Continue your hike to Ouigane for an overnight in a Berber Home.

Hiking day from Ouirgane to Imlil (1-hour drive) walking An optional mule ride in the mountains for mild hiking on the slopes of Toubkal Mountain is at your disposal. This is a national park of natural and human beauty that surpasses that of other regions in the Atlas Mountains. Lunch will be traditionally prepared for you at a Berber house in Imlil. In the afternoon, you can walk to a cliff-hanging village where we will capture the real daily life of Berber villagers and spend the night with a Berber family, sharing a delicious dinner and being a part of their tribal music and dance.

Travel the back roads to Marrakech (1h 30 mn drive) Your guide will take you on a discovery tour of a daily Souk. Leisurely explore a Berber day market in the morning. Lunch is in the mountains, and fresh air climbs up the Oukaimeden to explore some shrines and temples of Judaic origins. The valleys are notably known for their Jewish heritage, especially Ourika Valley. The evening departs for Marrakesh for dinner and accommodation at the hotel.

Guided City tour of Marrakesh Walking Your local guide will meet you in your hotel lobby in the morning to take you on a historic tour of Marrakech. The day will be devoted to discovering the magnificent and overwhelming best man-made Oasis of Marrakesh. Historic sites will be visited in the morning, and the souks and the famous Jamaa El F'na square will be visited in the afternoon. A ride in Carriages for a most exotic taste of Al Bahja, the glowing as Moroccans call Marrakech, is optional.

Continue to explore the marvels of this endowed and blessed metropolis. The afternoon will be spent shopping in one of Morocco's foremost craft and trading centers. A farewell dinner to close this memorable journey will be hosted on your behalf at a traditional Moorish restaurant in Medina, accompanied by typical Moroccan music and entertainment.
